Looking to incorporate Te Reo Māori into your clinical practice?

Learning introductory- or advanced-level Te Reo Māori me ngā tikanga Māori wananga (Māori language and customs) can enhance cultural competency for trainees, fellows and staff and in turn, enhance the Māori patient experience. Explore the list of recommended programs below, curated by the Māori and Pacific Peoples Eye Health Committee, to help get you started:

Training Programs:

Self-paced learning via Android/Apple applications:

  • Aki Hauora: A health-focused application with a game learning platform.
  • Te Aka: A Māori dictionary.
  • Āke Āke: An educational resource that teaches basic Tikanga.
  • Tātai Whetū: A self-paced educational resource that guides you through the structure of formal and informal hui with short interactive tutorial. Android/Apple.
