Optometrists

As the front line of the eye healthcare system, optometrists are key referrers of ophthalmic patients. It is therefore important that optometrists have access to information and resources that can assist them in identifying potential issues that might require referral to an ophthalmologist.

RANZCO seeks to provide support and information to help optometrists to identify and refer patients who may need to see an ophthalmologist. This includes optometrist training workshops offered at RANZCO events, including branch scientific meetings.

RANZCO has also developed referral pathways to assist in the assessment, referral and management of patients with potential glaucoma, AMD and diabetic retinopathy. These pathways are available to download here.
