Macular Disease Foundation Australia – new research grants

MDFA is inviting applications for two new research grants:

  1. The MDFA 25th Anniversary Award will fund research addressing knowledge gaps specifically related to geographic atrophy.
  2. The Elisabeth Macdonald Memorial Award will support research relevant to people living with a macular or retinal disease living in regional and rural areas of Australia.

Support for Rural Specialists in Australia (SRSA) 2025 Grants - CPD

Support for Rural Specialists in Australia (SRSA) helps rural specialists stay skilled and engaged so they can provide the best care to their communities.

Eligible applicants are invited to apply for a grant of up to $12,000 to attend a CPD activity like a conference, workshop, clinical attachment, or peer review.

The application deadline is 15 October 2025.

Eligibility

To apply for an SRSA grant, you must work rurally (Modified Monash Model categories 2-7) as either:

  • A (non-GP) specialist
  • An Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander specialist trainee
  • A specialist international medical graduate under assessment

If you received a grant in SRSA’s previous funding round (Funding Round 10), you are not eligible to apply in this round. If you were unsuccessful in the past, you are encouraged to apply again.

SRSA is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care and managed by the Council of Presidents of Medical Colleges.

Miga Australia – Doctors in Training Grants Program

Applications are open for the Miga 2025 Doctors in Training Grant Program, which provides up to six $10,000 training grants for advanced training placements.

RANZCO SA Branch Ophthalmology Elective Grant
RANZCO’s SA Branch invites Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander medical students from Flinders University and The University of Adelaide to apply for an Ophthalmology Elective Grant.

This initiative, made possible in partnership with Glaukos and ANZEF and led by SA Branch Chair Anna Galanopoulos, aims to support and encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander medical students to pursue an ophthalmology elective, potentially leading to a future career in the field.
