Health equality is a fundamental right for all, and RANZCO supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and their right to a healthy future where they receive adequate healthcare.
Eye diseases and vision problems are the most common long-term health conditions reported by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and unfortunately, despite there being progress to improve these issues, they continue to have their needs unmet, have poorer access to health services and experience poorer health outcomes.
This National Close the Gap Day (17 March) will focus on ‘Transforming Power: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led Transformation, Gender Equality and Equity, Allyship’. RANZCO is committed to working with peak bodies, government, and communities to address the persistent inequality experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and will work towards closing the gap in eye health.
