Today RANZCO is releasing an updated version of the Child Protection Policy. This policy sets out the basic rules and guidelines for Fellows and staff who are engaged in international development work. These guidelines are aligned with the United Nation’s Convention on the Rights of the Child, as well as the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Child Protection Policy.
The policy addresses key principles, key definitions, recruitment practices for roles that may involve working with children, reporting of alleged exploitation or abuse, and internal education. It also includes useful resources to guide implementation and compliance: RANZCO child protection code of conduct; photography release form; and a form to report suspected child exploitation or abuse.
Further international development guidelines have been reviewed and updated and will be released via the RANZCO website over the coming weeks. All development guidelines are available in the Policies section of the RANZCO website here.
