Governance and Structure
RANZCO is a company limited by guarantee with charitable status from the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission (ACNC) and is a registered charity in New Zealand (New Zealand Charity Commission registration number: CC53935).
RANZCO’s representative Council elects the Board of Directors. While the Board is responsible for finances and strategy, the Council gives voice to 1,200 members. Councillors are drawn from each state and New Zealand, as well as the Standing Committees of the Board. RANZCO has over 40 committees and numerous working groups who contribute to education, standards, advocacy and more. Details of each committee and their activities, as well as the working groups, Council and Board can be reviewed in RANZCO’s Annual Reports.
The Board also relies on the expertise of the College’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs), which represent the various areas of the eye.
Each Australian state and New Zealand has a Branch Committee of Fellows, which acts in a similar way to a Board at a local level, but without independent legal authority.
For more information, please see the Constitution, By Laws and Policies, and the RANZCO Professional Code of Conduct.
