Through a $10.8 million philanthropic commitment from the Sarks Macular Degeneration Research Foundation, UNSW has established the Shirley and John Sarks Chair in Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD).
The establishment of this role will advance excellence in ophthalmology and vision sciences, and strengthen Australia’s capacity to tackle age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and other blinding eye diseases.
It also continues a strong commitment to supporting researchers, with the role reflecting the legacy of Drs Shirley and John Sarks, pioneers of ophthalmology and translational research.
